An Ode to the Travel Journey

Life is about the journey. I believe the world we were given is vast and beautiful so GO, explore it. And seriously… why not explore it with your kids?!

Moms, in my opinion: Journey, Roam, Explore.

This is not to say I do not love home. We are super blessed to be living here along 30A, raising our two girls, and soaking up that vitamin D. Does it get any better?

To my husband and I.. it sure as hell does!

Travel. Travel. Travel.

See this great big world!travel

Since our relationship was basically founded on the idea of traveling (we both loved to explore as single individuals), it only made sense for us to keep exploring. Exploring with kids really allows for my time as a mother to be so super special.

When you travel with kids, you get to see the world through their eyes!

God’s beautiful VAST green earth, all the museums man has made, and not to mention so many modes of transportation. Going back to a place we have already been is simply magical, because you get to view it all over again.

So… Travel! See everything through your children’s eyes. Listen to the magic in their voice when they see something amazing for the first time. It is literally like YOU are seeing it for the first time.

We got our last trip in to the Smoky Mountain National Forest before traveling came to a screeching halt. It was a trip to remember! We were camping in the state park and in the middle of the night a HUGE gust of wind blew our canopy up and crashed it, and blew both kids off their air mattress! Everyone was safe and now we have a windy story to tell. Our oldest absolutely loves hiking and our youngest loves being carried almost the whole way. Then, we go to the same waterfall that Daniel and I have seen before, and even saw with Lilly and Rose a few years back. They got SO excited about the waterfall and found “little seats” in the mountain side that I never would have seen. It is simply fabulous enjoying the journey with them.

I am grateful as a mom that they never stop finding the joy. And this teaches me the lesson (yeah, my kids are sometimes my teachers) of the joy in every moment. Even here, in quarantine… there is joy being here with them all the time: riding bikes, chasing butterflies, picking flowers, visiting local farms, you name it…I am really thankful to be a mom.

As soon as we can, you bet your bottom dollar this family will be finding a place to journey, roam, and explore!
