this was my first 30a songwriters festival but not my last

Song Writers FestivalLive music is the best. Fight me. Seriously though, there’s nothing better than live music. I’ve been known to drive 6 hours, one way, see a show and then drive home the same day. I’m a bit nutty when it comes to live music and my favorite artists. The 30a songwriters festival is the meeting of both worlds. Live music meets the beach. It’s heavenly, I swear. As a local of nearly 5 years this was my first 30a songwriters festival but not my last.

The opportunity for me to attend this year’s #30AFest came up quite surprisingly but it’s been on my 30a bucket list for years. I was scheduled to work Friday and Saturday. After pulling up the app, which made it so easy to keep track of which artist was playing at which venue, I was able to nail down a schedule of artists in my off time!

The feeling of seeing your favorite artists never gets old but discovering a brand new favorite is what this weekend was about. I was able to finally see 30a’s own Chris Alvarado and my new old faves, The Talbott Brothers in one night! The lineup boasted absolute musical legends and I can’t believe I was able to see Don McLean and Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys back to back on one stage.

Next year I definitely plan on taking the entire weekend off so I can fill my musical bucket. I love that the way it’s arranged forces you out of your comfort zone. See a show at Vue 30A one night and then head down to Grand Boulevard to the MainStage the next. There are quite a variety of artistic styles as well. I’m the first to declare my alliance to singer/songwriter artists and typically don’t enjoy COUNTRY country but I was surprised at how many of the technically country artists I enjoyed. This was my first 30a songwriters festival but not my last.
