Why You Need to Check Out 30A Distilling Co

 

Distilleries have been growing big time in popularity over the last few years. We have several breweries in our area and even a handful of distilleries. What I have learned is that each one is different in their story, what they make, and what they offer. Here is a peek into why you need to check out 30A Distilling Co!

 

 

Brian Rabon, the owner, has a long history with the 30A area. He grew up coming on yearly vacations starting in the late 1970s and loved the area so much that he bought a home in 2015. Brian saw his pursuit of opening 30A Distilling Co as an opportunity to become more of a permanent part of the 30A community. And his vision is proving true because the tasting room and distillery are becoming more and more popular with visitors and locals alike!

 

 

Recently, I got the chance to take a tour at 30A Distilling Co and ask Brian some questions. When I asked about how he got started in distilling he shared that he has always loved chemistry. He brewed beer in his 20s, bartended in his 30s, and collected spirits worldwide in his 40s. He has a friend that opened Sugarfield Spirits in Louisiana who mentored him and taught him the ropes of the distilling world.

 

 

We tried the Rosemary Beach Citrus Gin, the Blue Mountain Beach Bourbon Whiskey, and the Blue Mountain Beach Bourbon Cream. All of them were delicious! Another thing that I love is their branding. Brian has created a growing line of bottles and branding that pay tribute to our amazing beach towns. For example, their bourbon is inspired by Blue Mountain Beach. I was really impressed with the flavors that he infuses into his spirits, too. He uses regionally sourced ingredients like Honeybell oranges, Plant City Florida strawberries, Chilton County peaches, and more. They are truly aiming to create a spirit that locals (and visitors!) can call their own.
