Labor Day Weekend At The Island Resort – Fort Walton Beach

September 1-4

From the website: “Celebrate Labor Day with a splash at The Island Resort! Dive into the holiday fun with your friends and family from September 1-4, 2023. The festivities kick off at 10:00 a.m. and will continue throughout the weekend, giving you ample time to enjoy all the exciting Labor Day weekend festivities like karaoke, fireworks, pool party with beach ball drop from the Grotto, and live music all weekend long!”

Free to guests of The Island Resort and available to the public with the purchase of a day pass. Individual day passes start at $25 and family day passes start at $75.

Come celebrate Labor Day Weekend at Seaside and enjoy this concert by Ken & Andi and Friends on the Amphitheater Stage.

Kayak Eco-Tour Paddle on Lake Powell – Panama City Beach

September 6

From the website: “Join Camp Helen State Park ranger staff for a leisurely 90-minute paddle on Lake Powell, the largest coastal dune lake in North America. Learn about the history, natural communities and wildlife that make this Outstanding Florida Water unique and important. This guided kayak tour will be enjoyable for individuals, families and groups.”

Fee is $30, cash only, and includes entrance fee to park, watercraft rental, life jacket, paddle, and a donation to the Friends of Camp Helen State Park. For ages 12 and up.

 

2023 Big Scoop – Fort Walton Beach 

September 9

From the website: “Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida is partnering with Emerald Coast Harley Davidson for the 2023 Big Scoop! This is a free community event. Attendees are invited to enjoy games, activities, unlimited ice cream, popsicles and other sweet treats from local vendors!” This is sure to be one of the sweeter Destin 30A September events.

Free and open to the public. 

 

Preschool Storytime – Destin Library 

September 14

From the website: “Children’s Librarian, Sadie, leads preschoolers through a morning of stories, song and dance, movements, fingerplays, and arts & crafts. This storytime will take place mostly on the floor. A limited number of floor cushions will be available to make caregivers more comfortable, or you are welcome to bring your own from home.” 

Free. For ages 3-5.

 

International Coastal Clean Up Day – Sandestin

September 16

From their website: “Join us for one of the world’s largest annual preservation and protection events and volunteer efforts for our ocean, waves and beaches. Sandestin® will engage and take action by hosting a local cleanup. The cumulative result is not only a cleaner and healthier coastline but also a raised consciousness for accessible actions people can integrate into their lives to promote healthy beaches on a daily basis.”

Free. Prizes and refreshments will be served after the clean up. Wear a blue shirt for the group photo!

 

Planetarium Nights at Emerald Coast Science Center – Fort Walton Beach

September 21

From their website: “Interested in learning how technological advancements have impacted space exploration? Join us as we venture out to Earth’s orbit to discuss some of the major innovations that have affected our planet. We’ll also explore Mars and learn all about its rovers. From here, we’ll travel across the asteroid belt to visit one of Saturn’s moons that could foster potential life, and we’ll even view some of our constellations that are based off of modern inventions. Our Planetarium is an inflatable dome. Guests sit on cushions on the floor of the planetarium to view the show.”

Non-museum members: $12 adults/seniors/kids. Children 2 and under are free. Free for museum members. Space is limited so advance ticket purchasing is recommended. Please arrive at least 10 minutes in advance. Preshow starts half an hour before show time. 

 

International Talk Like A Pirate Day – Sandestin

From their website: “Ahoy Matey! Join us for an evening full of adventure with our Special Guest Captain Davy. Come dressed in your best pirate costume and get ready for a scavenger hunt, magic show, costume contest, and loads more of mayhem!”

Family Movie Night Featuring SUPER MARIO BROTHERS – Watersound

Summer may be over but Family Movie Nights at the Big Chill play on at this family-friendly Destin 30A September events! This evening’s screening is a favorite with our families and maybe yours too – SUPER MARIO BROTHERS! 

Free. Movies are played on the jumbotron and under the pavilion.
